Trauma-informed Training – Module 2/Yoga & Mindfulness for At-Risk Children

Trauma-informed Training: Mindfulness Practices to Improve Self-Regulation & Well-being for the Trauma Survivor – Module 2 will focus on trauma-informed Yoga and Mindfulness practices when working with at-risk children and Child Welfare clients, including children, siblings, and/or parents or foster parents. There will be 1 hour of pre-reading and -viewing and 3.25 hours of lecture. Pre-work will be emailed to participants one week prior to the training. Topics include: Clinical Overview of Trauma and Trauma Diagnoses, Trauma-informed Practices for Children with ACE’s, Child Welfare and Risk Factors, Vicarious Trauma, and a sample class. This is a lecture-style seminar, but a brief mindfulness and chair yoga session will be provided.



5:45 – 6:00PM:   Introductions and Overview

6:00 – 6:45PM: Child and Adolescent Trauma, including ACE studies.

6:45-7:30PM:  PTSD Basics and Neurobiology/Experiential CBT exercise on a trauma event.

7:30 – 7:45PM:  Break

7:45-8:20PM:  Intro to Treatment (includes complementary/alternative medical practices of mindfulness and yoga, research review, and sample chair yoga/meditation class).

8:20-9:00PM Vicarious Trauma and Self-care, including trigger identification participant experience.

This class is limited to 20 participants. Registration will close on February 15, 2019.

NASW and Yoga Alliance CEU’s are available after completion of this training. Please inquire prior to training if you are interested in NASW CEU’s. NASW has been designated as a pre-approved provider of professional continuing education for social workers (Section 47.36), Marriage and Family Therapist (48.36), and professional counselors (49.36) by the PA State Board of Social Workers, Marriage & Family Therapists and Professional Counselors.
